ViSi Mobile as a Wireless Vital Sign Monitoring System

Vital signs worsening is one of the early symptoms of serious surgical problems. Vital signs are frequently monitored periodically 1-3 times a day in general nursing wards to enable earlier recognition of deterioration, which may lower death rates and length of hospitalization. According to studies, vital sign trend alterations can occur 8 to 24 hours before life-threatening events such as cardiac arrest, ICU admission, and fatality. [2]

What is a Wireless Vital Sign Monitoring System for?

Wearable and wireless vital sign monitoring systems are now accessible as a potential solution for earlier detection of clinical deterioration in general wards, thanks to recent developments in monitoring technology.  A wireless vital sign monitoring system (WVSM) uses sensors to capture vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, body temperature) and sends them wirelessly to a receiving device.

These wearables have demonstrated reasonable accuracy and the ability to enhance patient outcomes while lowering costs. The majority of these systems include traditional alert techniques based on single parameter threshold values comparable to those used in intensive care units for severely ill patients. [2]

The Role of Wireless Vital Sign Monitoring Systems in Healthcare

Over the past year, there have been at least a 20% decline in the number of nurses in the United States, this statistic became more prominent in the West, which saw a 32.2% of decline between March 2021 and March 2022. It's not assuming to say that there is a lack and shortage of nurses with the continuously increasing number of patients on a daily basis.  Nurses are overworked and in high demand. Long-term vital sign data collection, a limited number of medical workers addressing patients, and rising administrative expenditures are all issues for management when it comes to improving health care.

A 2019 study from the International Journal of Nursing Studies published in Science Direct supports the importance of wireless vital sign monitoring systems, especially in aiding nurses in measuring vital signs frequently and accurately.

Five hospitals in three European nations deployed a remote wireless vital signs monitoring system in medical and surgical wards. The device monitored heart rate, respiration rate, and temperature every 2 minutes. The authors provide four cases of (paroxysmal) atrial fibrillation, two cases of sepsis, and one case each of pyrexia, cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and pulmonary embolisms. In all cases, the remote monitoring system detected the initial signals of ventilatory and circulatory deterioration before a change in the trends of the relevant values was detected by manual vital signs measurement.

Wireless vital sign monitoring systems keep nurses, doctors, and patients safe by detecting early signs or symptoms. These systems can allow for more timely interventions and optimize patient care. [1]

Why Use ViSi Mobile for Wireless Vital Sign Monitoring System?

Sotera Wireless' ViSi Mobile continuous, non-invasive blood pressure (cNIBP) monitoring device has received FDA approval. In comparison with invasive monitoring systems, the gadget performed well, measuring blood pressure to within 5mmHg. ViSi Mobile offers a solution for healthcare providers who are looking for an efficient and cost-effective way to monitor patients remotely.

ViSi Mobile WVSM is a powerful wireless vital sign monitoring system for remote patient monitoring. ViSi Mobile's capabilities include real-time data transmission, online patient status updates, and 24/7 support. The system can enhance patient safety by enabling clinicians to detect early changes in vital signs remotely since this wearable sensor pack uses Wi-Fi technology which allows doctors to remotely monitor their patients with the accuracy of an intensive care unit due to its numerous features.

ViSi Mobile provides real-time notifications to the clinical staff based on continuous surveillance monitoring of the patient's vital signs, transforming culture from reactive to predictive. Request a demo here!
