A traditional SpO2 sensor is designed as a reusable clip or disposable probe which is attached to the tip of one of the fingers, typically the pointing or middle finger and measures through the capillary bed. Sotera has designed an innovative thumb sensor to enhance wearability and patient comfort. The ViSi Mobile® Reusable cNIBP & SpO2 Thumb Sensor is the most advanced vital sign sensor on the market today. Used in-conjunction with the ViSi Mobile® Patient Monitoring System, the sensor provides continuous Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (cNIBP), and functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) monitoring. The sensor was designed for improved comfort, durability, and accuracy in a variety of clinical care settings.
The thumb sensor sits between the two lower thumb knuckles and is less likely to fall off (like standard SpO2 finger sensors often do) and it provides the patient additional freedom of movement not found in finger based pulse oximeters. The patient can read, write, eat, etc. without a clip being in the way. Also, the sensor is placed around the base of the thumb that advantageously captures the princeps pollicis artery to provide a signal that is less dependent on changes in peripheral vascular resistance.
When early detection matters, ViSi Mobile can make the difference.
