- 36 year old female post-surgical patient, no risk factors
- Patient agitated and in a lot of discomfort on arrival to general floor
- Initial vital signs: HR: 60, RR: 11, NIBP: 80/45 (58), SpO2: 95%
- 90 minutes after admission to care unit, cNIBP dropped dramatically and alarmed
- All other vital signs were normal
- Nurse found patient unresponsive and code blue was initiated
- Patient was roused after vigorous sternal rubs; Narcan and fluids administered; cNIBP stabilized – 95/55
- Patient returned to surgery to repair post-op bleeding and discharged home a day later
- ViSi Mobile cNIBP alerted clinicians to a precipitous drop in blood pressure that could easily have been undetected with spot check monitoring
